St.Vincent’s Private Hospital invests in the overall treatment of our oncology patients by caring for them from initial diagnosis through their whole journey. The Oncology and Haematology multidisciplinary service offers the very best inpatient care and treatment in a bright and modern facility.
Our service and team is one of the most progressive, comprehensive, highly-trained and respected in Irish private medicine. It has led the way, since the mid 1970s, embracing new advances in pharmacology and medicine.
We are only private hospital to offer radiotherapy, surgery and chemotherapy, created onsite, in one location along with having the resources and specialist expertise to care for the patient through the medical care to psychological support – we offer the highest number of medical social workers than any other private hospital.
We appoint Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) who can advise our patients and their family of the journey e.g. the tests involved, next steps, diagnoses, supports offered.
The Team
The oncology and haematology team has thirteen consultants, all of whom are national and international leaders in their particular field, with two designated oncology and one haematology registrar. The oncology registrars participate in a rotating educational scheme within St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group and alternate between our day care service and designated inpatient areas.

This service uses the skill and expertise of our specialist consultants from the fields of cardiology, general surgery, breast, hepatobilary, colorectal, thoracic, plastics and urological surgery, interventional radiology, respiratory and general medicine, dermatology, neurology and endocrinology.
Appointment and Referral information
Referral for treatment is via a consultant/service within St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group or via a consultant from another healthcare facility
Appointments to commence chemotherapy treatment are arranged, after a consultant review, by one of the oncology co-coordinators or the clinical nurse specialist in haematology, who will liaise with the relevant consultant and clinical nurse manager from the appropriate area.
What is haematology-oncology?
The diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood diseases (haematology) and cancer (oncology) and research into them. Haematology-oncology includes such diseases as iron deficiency anaemia, haemophilia, sickle cell disease, the thalassemias, leukaemias and lymphomas, as well as cancers of other organs.
