Ms Mona Thornton MBBChBAO, FRCSI (ORL-HNS) is a Consultant Ear, Nose, Throat/ Head & Neck Surgeon with over 10 years Consultant experience in all aspects of general ENT.
Subspecialty interest: Rhinology
Her interest in Rhinology includes medical and endoscopic surgical management of inflammatory and allergic sinus and nasal conditions.

Training:
Following graduation from University College Cork, she completed her ENT training on the Irish Otolaryngology Training Programme attaining her fellowship of the RCSI in 2008. During this time she completed both Rhinology and Facial Plastic clinical fellowships with internationally- renowned Rhinology experts in Australia.
Experience:
Over the past 10 years, Mona has worked both nationally and internationally at Consultant level and during this time has developed a subspecialty interest in inflammatory airway disease and development of common care pathways for patients with chronic asthma/ sinus disease.
She introduced nasal polypectomy surgery under Local Anaesthetic to her practice in 2019 and continues to develop this new area of nasal surgery. She also continues to coordinate postgraduate sinus surgical training at the RCSI, recently establishing a Simulation model for training. She has also recently cofounded and is the incoming President of the new Irish Rhinologic Society.
