Biography

Dr. Nigel Salter MB BCh BAO FRCP FRCEM is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine based in St. Vincent’s University Hospital. He qualified from Trinity College and completed his higher specialist training in Emergency Medicine in Ireland.

He was appointed as the national clinical lecturer for the Emergency Medicine CPD support scheme in the Royal College of Surgeons in 2019, and as part of this role sits on the Irish Committee of Emergency Medicine Training.

He is an assistant clinical professor for Emergency Medicine with UCD.

He was recently appointed as vice chair of the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Council of Ireland, and leads a working group of the committee advocating for the establishment of a National In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest register.

He is vice chair of a working group with the National Office of Clinical Audit, which is currently conducting a feasibility study for a national audit with the National Deteriorating Patient Improvement Programme of the HSE.

Has been assessing patients for and writing medico-legal reports for over ten years and has given evidence in the circuit, criminal and juvenile courts.
