Education & Experience

Mr. Kieran Breen graduated with an honours degree from UCD School of Medicine and completed his urology higher surgical training scheme in Ireland in 2019. During his training, he completed a M.D research masters investigating biomarkers for the prediction of recurrence in prostate cancer patients post-surgery in the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research UCD in 2014. In 2019, he undertook a two year clinical fellowship in robotic and laparoscopic uro-oncology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. He was appointed to his current position as a consultant urologist in St. Vincent’s University Hospital and St. Vincent’s Private Hospital in 2021.

Subspecialist Area of Interest

Mr. Breen’s subspecialist areas of interest include the diagnosis and surgical management of prostate and kidney cancer. He performs nerve-sparing robotic radical prostatectomy and robotic partial nephrectomy. He also offers robotic simple prostatectomy for very enlarged benign prostates (BPH).

Clinical Research & Professional Memberships

Mr. Breen has received national and international awards for his research on prostate cancer biomarkers and grants for his fellowship training in a leading international urological robotic centre, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, USA. He is a member of the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) Prostate Cancer Panel, Irish Society of Urology, European Society of Urology and American Society of Urology.
