Education and Experience
Dr Nikita Bhatt MCh, MMed, FRCS (Urol) is a substantive Consultant Urologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Group, specialising in robotic reconstructive surgery, functional urology (male and female incontinence and lower urinary tract symptoms), and bladder cancer.
She has an RCS-accredited Fellowship in Reconstructive, Functional and Robotic Urology in Newcastle, UK, and completed her Urology training with the East of England Deanery (Cambridge and Norfolk).
Dr Bhatt holds a Masters in Surgery and a Masters in Medical Education. As the past Chair of the British Urological Research Society for Trainees (BURST), she has significant experience in collaborative research and has led multicentre clinical studies.
Her research interests include reconstructive urology, perioperative outcomes, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), haematuria pathways, and digital health. She has secured over €500,000 in competitive grant funding and has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.
She maintains an extensive academic and leadership portfolio. She is an Associate Editor for European Urology and the World Journal of Urology, and serves as Trainee Corner Editor for the British Journal of Urology International (BJUI). She has also contributed to guideline panels within the European Association of Urology, including the LUTS and paediatric urology panels, playing a key role in the development, critical appraisal, and dissemination of international evidence-based clinical guidelines.
In addition, Dr Bhatt is actively involved in surgical education, contributing to FRCS (Urol) teaching, national training courses, and the development of educational resources such as BJUI Knowledge modules and medical student urology curricula. She has also led award-winning digital innovation work, including the implementation of a digitally enabled patient-initiated review model aligned with HSE national priorities for virtual care.
