2008 – Dr Zita Galvin graduated from the Medical School in University College Dublin and also has a degree in Pharmacy from Trinity College Dublin (1999)
2013 – She completed a clinical research M.D, in the complications of portal hypertension, at University College Dublin/Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin.
Dr Galvin completed her Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology training in Ireland before moving to Canada to do a fellowship in Transplant Hepatology at the Multi Organ Transplant Programme at Toronto General Hospital. She was appointed as Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and Staff Medical Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Toronto General Hospital from 2017 to 2021.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. Galvin is passionate about education, teaching and mentorship. She completed the Master Teacher Program at the Department of Medicine, University Health Network (UHN). During her time in Toronto, she was the Director of Education for the Multi-Organ Transplant Program and the Director of the Transplant Hepatology Fellowship Program.
2021 – Dr Galvin was appointed to St Vincent’s Healthcare Group, Dublin, Ireland as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. She is actively involved in the treatment of patients with GI and liver disease. She is on the board of the Irish Society of Gastroenterology and is on the Education and Scholarship Committee of the International Liver Transplant Society. She has published multiple academic papers and regularly attends and presents at national and international meetings.
